Mapping Oneself

Venia Dimitrakopoulou moves from the stone and the extrovert gestures of free sculpting of her previous exhibition to the introvert and subtle gestures that the fragile and sensitive handmade paper requires. Obsession and repetition are the prevalent themes, through which the artistic act can culminate in redemption. Similar works to those of the first part are presented in the second part of the exhibition at the Athens Art Gallery. Here, by contrast, they are displayed in the conventional manner of an exhibition of wall-hung paintings.
